NUMB GOODNESS TOWARDS SEXUAL CRIMES

Hello, Everybody!!

I was inspired to write about how the so-called good people of our society are hypocrites when it comes to sexual crimes. So Think of yourself to be a typical good citizen of the world. You earn well., you are responsible.You do not do anything morally incorrect.You take care of your family and love everybody around you. Your life is just fine and you are happy to be a respectable member of the society. One day you encounter a crazy, frustrated person who commits a crime and you fall victim to it. And suddenly you find that everything you have ever done has gone down the drain and you are just being judged on the basis of some criminals’ act against you. And you happen to fall in the eyes of everybody.
How logical does it sound?
Not at all right? then what happens to us when it comes to rape.? That suddenly a good-natured, cultured, sweet and lovable girl turns into a characterless person who no longer has the right to be a part of this society just because some desperate man decided to exploit her. But the worst is yet to come. The victim tries to get over it, but the good people of the society don’t want to get over it. After all now they get an opportunity to flaunt how sympathetic they are. “After rape a woman is just a living corpse (zinda laash)”. They all will tell her how heinous this crime was and how other women in our society also go through it. But they will ensure she never forgets it even for a second.
The problem is that we all are fantastic when it comes to making a fuss about the condition of our society and the spoilt mentality of the people. But when it come to checking ourselves we never want to do that because we are by convention “the good people”.
And we often forget that this mentality and the fear of facing such taunts and even sympathy of the people is killing rape victims around the globe. The female members of the society live with it, tolerate it not because of the criminals, the offenders but because of her own people who are just too good to be thoughtful.
I ask that today all women go through sexual abuse in some form or the other. And everybody is aware of that. WE are also aware that there is no fault of the girl in such cases. Then how do we convince ourselves to believe that after rape the victim loses her respect, and all sexually frustrated men have now got the license to tease her and to look at her as a public property.
Okay now we think no no that is the old way of thinking we are now good people and we do treat the victims of sexual harassment with equal respect. But our psychology is reflected in our actions, and our words.
The other day while watching a football match in the stadium i heard one player talking to another after they won. “Mahn we just RAPED them”. Them referring to the losing team. Very often when somebody is insulted in public we say he/she was RAPED. This proves our narrow thinking beyond any doubt. We are not only reflecting our inability to be a free minded human but also indicates to others that yes with molestation goes your respect. Strangely, both murder and rape are crimes but when someone is murdered no matter how bad that person has been but our goodness doesn’t allow us to talk ill about them. But when someone is raped things are just so different we can’t cease to speak crap about the victim.

During the past week, I came across few people who blabbered  endlessly about their so-called "social service" and their "sympathetic" nature. Which got me thinking and thus, I have taken this up as the topic for my first post.
yes, indeed getting involved in activities that are for the welfare of our society is just amazing. But most people are oblivious of the conditions. A great deed is great because of the great intentions of its doers. But often people work for fame, for their image and also because Bhagawan bhala Karega. But even worse is when we in the most compassionate tone term the people we help as "underprivileged".
But the fact is that in the world nobody lacks everything and no one possesses it all. Like, some have the money but not the brains, or education. Some have the brains but no money, and there are innumerable such combinations. So in that sense we are all equally privileged or underprivileged. Having said that, what we actually do in social work is establish a barter system. We give people what they need and that gives us the much-awaited rush of pleasant emotions. Therefore, it is important to think of each and everyone as a dignified individual. Yes, they need help and so do you. Do not forget that they possess a lot that you don't, materialistic or non-materialistic. So think before you sympathise with them and term them as "becharey". whenever you do something and feel the urge to become a self-proclaimed "maseeha", remember you wouldn't do it if it weren't giving you contentment or satisfaction. We are born as humans and humanity is our duty, our originality, the essence of our existence. Nothing out of the box to be overly proud of. So next time you are being human by helping someone  just remember to tell yourself that you are just being human. :)
